New Hampshire’s Sports Betting Success Contributes $100 Million to Education

In a remarkable milestone, the New Hampshire Lottery has announced that its partnership with DraftKings, established four years ago when sports betting was legalized in the state, has generated a whopping $100 million for public education.

This significant contribution underscores the success of sports betting and other lottery games in supporting the Education Trust Fund in New Hampshire.

A Boon for Public Education

Charlie McIntyre, the Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery, expressed pride in the state’s achievement as a leading destination for sports betting in the Northeast. He highlighted the responsible betting culture among New Hampshire players and looked forward to continued success in the coming years. “We encourage our New Hampshire players to continue placing responsible bets and we are excited for many more years of winning big!” McIntyre stated.

The New Hampshire Lottery’s annual report revealed a substantial 29.3 percent increase in state revenues from all games, including instant scratch tickets, keno, and historic horse racing, contributing an additional $43 million to the Education Trust Fund last year. This growth signifies the thriving nature of lottery and betting games in the state and their crucial role in funding educational initiatives.

The Expansion of Sports Betting

Sports betting has quickly become one of the most popular offerings by the Lottery, with the first retail sportsbook opening at The Brook in Seabrook. This was soon followed by establishments in Filotimo in Manchester and Dover, and the Gate City Casino in Nashua.

The enthusiasm for sports betting among New Hampshire residents is evident in the staggering $2.71 billion wagered since its inception.
