Splash Sports, a skill-based social gaming company, has closed a $14.5 million Series B funding round. Dream Ventures, an early-stage investment firm, led the round. The funding will allow the Denver-based company to enhance its real-money contest offerings and strengthen key partnerships, particularly in the golf sector.

The Series B round included contributions from several notable investors, such as Boston Seed Capital, Velvet Sea Ventures, Greenwave Ventures, and consulting firm Evolution Partners.

Strategic Focus on Golf and Engagement

A key feature of this funding round was the inclusion of EP Golf Ventures. This investment firm is a partnership between the PGA of America and Elysian Park Ventures, the investment platform created by the ownership group of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Splash Sports will use this strategic partnership to significantly bolster its efforts in the golf sector.

Splash Sports offers a variety of fantasy-based contests, including daily fantasy, pick’em, and survivor pools. The company currently provides some combination of its products in over 40 U.S. markets, plus the online gaming market in Canada. Notably, the platform does not operate in Nevada or Pennsylvania.

CEO TJ Ross emphasized the critical role of interactivity in the sports media landscape. He stated that media companies and leagues invest heavily in rights, but “an element of interactivity and engagement that brings fans closer to the action is crucial.” Ross noted this funding allows the company to continue driving that engagement through its real-money contests and partnerships with leading media companies and teams.

Continuing Investment Momentum

The latest funding follows a successful injection of capital in 2024, when the company secured a $14 million Series A2 funding round. That previous round saw contributions from VC firms Acies Investments, K5 Global, and Accomplice.

Splash Sports’ portfolio of angel investors includes high-profile figures from the sports world. These investors include New England Patriots President Jonathan Kraft, Fenway Sports Group Partners Mike Gordon and Sam Kennedy, and Fenway Sports Group advisor Theo Epstein.
