Aristocrat Acquires Awager, Gains U.S. Lead in Live Slot Streaming
Aristocrat Leisure Limited has agreed to acquire Awager Ltd from funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition, subject to regulatory pre-approvals, significantly enhances Aristocrat’s digital capabilities by incorporating a market leader in the Live Slot Streaming segment.
Awager specializes in providing gaming operators a digital channel that delivers a genuine, real-time casino gameplay experience. The company’s innovative, patented technology live-streams physical slot machines and Electronic Table Games (ETGs) from casino floors or dedicated studios to online players. Awager is currently the clear market leader in the U.S. live slot streaming market.
Bridging Land-Based and Online Gaming
Awager’s unique digital platform provides players with an authentic, immersive casino experience. It uses real camera views, sound captures, and a cutting-edge interface to allow online players to directly control physical machines on a real casino floor. This is a crucial element for extending the reach of land-based casinos and attracting high-value players seeking a familiar online experience.
Aristocrat stated that the acquisition of Awager “will bring new capabilities in line with our strategy.” Awager already has exclusive distribution agreements with top iGaming platforms. Post-acquisition, the firm will benefit from Aristocrat’s premium content and extensive distribution networks, creating significant scope for global growth.
Awager, which was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Israel, employs about 75 workers across Israel, Eastern Europe, and the U.S. The transaction is expected to close in the coming months. UBS advised Aristocrat, and Moelis & Company LLC advised Oaktree on the transaction.
