The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have released the full agenda and lineup of speakers for their upcoming joint roundtable on regulatory harmonization, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29, from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the SEC’s headquarters, 100 F Street N.E., Washington, D.C.

The public event, intended to showcase how the two agencies are aligning oversight of markets spanning securities, derivatives and digital assets, will also be streamed live on the SEC’s website. Doors open at noon; online viewing requires no registration, while in-person attendees are asked to sign up in advance.

A Shared Look Back and Ahead

The roundtable begins at 1:00 p.m. with opening remarks from SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, Acting CFTC Chair Caroline Pham and SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw.

The first panel, “How We Got Here,” moderated by former CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo, will explore the history of cooperation and occasional turf battles between the agencies.

Panelists include SIFMA’s Kenneth Bentsen Jr., Vanderbilt University professor Craig Lewis, Interactive Brokers’ Scott Litvinoff, FIA’s Walt Lukken, ISDA’s Scott O’Malia and Jim Overdahl of Delta Strategy Group.

Platforms at the Crossroads

After a short break, the second panel at 2:10 p.m. will shift to “Platforms” — how harmonization might unlock economic value for trading venues while safeguarding investors.

Former CFTC Commissioner Jill Sommers and SEC Division of Trading and Markets Director Jamie Selway will moderate a heavyweight group including Shayne Coplan (Polymarket), Craig Donohue (Cboe Global Markets), Terrence Duffy (CME Group), Adena Friedman (Nasdaq), Tarek Mansour (Kalshi), Arjun Sethi (Kraken), Jeffrey Sprecher (Intercontinental Exchange) and Don Wilson (DRW Holdings).

At 3:25 p.m., SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda will offer remarks before the afternoon’s final break.

Market Participants and Costs

The third panel at 4:00 p.m., “Participants,” will focus on how joint regulatory efforts could widen choice and lower costs for investors.

Moderators Giancarlo and former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes will guide a discussion featuring Stephen Berger (Citadel), Ryan Louvar (WisdomTree), Nick Lundgren (Crypto.com), JB Mackenzie (Robinhood Markets), Dave Olsen (Jump Trading Group), Sonali Theisen (Bank of America) and Brad Tulley (J.P. Morgan).

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce will deliver closing remarks at 5:20 p.m., wrapping up an afternoon that brings together regulators, exchanges, crypto firms, banks and trading houses under one roof.
